Waste management and transport are both considered essential services by the Australian Government during the COVID-19 crisis. As such, Big Bin Hire is operating ‘Business as usual’ during this difficult and unprecedented time.
Unfortunately, many of our customers are currently seeing a big shift in demand for their services and are therefore making difficult choices about closing their business. We are seeing a pause in construction projects and reduced demand for domestic waste management requirements.
We are most likely to continue our waste management services and skip bin hire with a skeleton team over the coming weeks. Our biggest priority at the moment is to keep our skip bin drivers employed.
It is a sad and stressful time, and if we can help our team worry less about employment, we will all sleep well (as well as possible anyway) at night.
In terms of our processes, our drivers have been instructed to practice social distancing and the hygiene principles as directed by the Australian Government.
Our drivers don’t have to interact with customers. We take all skip bin payments over the phone or via EFT and will not be accepting ‘payment by cash’ at this time. Our drivers have been instructed that, where possible, they do not exit the truck when picking up and delivering skip bins. When they are required to exit the truck, they are to do so with social distancing in mind.
We hope that we can all return to a normal way of life sooner than expected. In the meantime, we hope our customers – their employees and families – stay healthy. After all, that is all that matters.
