Recycling Soil

Each year we cart roughly 10,400 tonnes of soil from our customers to our recycling yard in Williamstown.

This soil comes from landscaping, plumbing, and underpinning sites across Melbourne.

Many of these skip bin jobs require multiple bin changeovers. We have built up a reputation for doing fast changeovers for our customers. This service is crucial to their job – time is money, as we know. Our customers can’t afford to double-handle this heavy waste and need it cleared from their site quickly.

Currently, soil is one of the most expensive waste types for us to get rid of. Many people think that soil is soil. But from a landfill perspective, soil must be 100% clean, ie, no rocks, wet soil, etc, or commonly known as clean fill.

Clean fill soil from a site is a rare find. Generally, the soil needs sorting at our end,d which is laborious.

To purify the soil, we screen and remove the rubbish and then cart it to landfill sites that use this soil for parks and site filling.

This process is time-consuming,g but it’s vital to our environmental goals.

Adrian from Adrian’s Grasshopper Gardening is a regular user of Big Bin Hire. When asked why he uses our services, he explained:

“I’ve been in the landscaping business for over 10 years, and soil and waste removal is a big part of the job. I’ve been using Big Bin Hire for a few years now because their experience and expert advice for the right bin for the job is second to none.

Also, their speedy and reliable delivery and pickup save me time and money on each job.

Their respect for the environment and surroundings of where their bins are placed on site is just a bonus.

Good business relations are hard to come by but easily built with Big Bin Hire”.
