What a Great Time to Donate
There’s never been a better time to dig deep and donate than during our current bush fire crisis. We all know someone who has been affected by this devastation and it is difficult knowing our “neighbours” have had their lives ripped apart and have possibility lost everything.
Donations of time, goods and money are coming in from all corners of the world to help those that have been affected by the devastation of the raging bush fires.
Tens of thousands of people and billions of animals have lost their homes and possessions and face a long battle to rebuild. The recovery cost is estimated to be in excess of 4.4 billion, and we all need to do our bit to help.
At Big Bin Hire we are often asked to provide prizes and money for charities and schools around Melbourne. Our favourite thing to do is donate a “weekend skip bin hire” as a prize. This prize can be given away or used in an auction for people to bid on. Either way, it is a great prize to raise a few hundred dollars!
To some, the prize might seem boring – but trust me – people love the chance to de-clutter or offset a renovation clean up.
Local Prize Opportunity
When a local group of mums banded together to come up with the perfect fundraiser for bush fire relief, Big Bin Hire jumped in with “a free 4m3 Skip Bin Hire” to be used as a prize.
Locals from Williamstown, Yarraville, Newport, Altona and the surrounds go together at the Junction Newport for an incredibly fun night.
There was a long list of prizes to be won, including a Silent Auction and Raffle. And throughout there was plenty of laughing and banter with attendees clearly delighted to be part of the action and opportunity to make a direct impact to the fundraiser.
Our prize – valued at $400 – was used as a Silent Auction item with the funds going into the Bush Fire relief pool. Local Newport mum, Chantel, was with the lucky winner of this prize and will be using the 4m3 Skip Bin Hire to de-clutter prior to her pending house sale.
Event organisers recently announced a final figure for total funds raised. Over $10,000 was collected through donations, silent auction and ticket sales. 100% of these proceeds will go direct to Gippsland Emergency Relief (www.gerf.org.au) and Wildlife Victoria (www.wildlifevictoria.org.au).
If you are part of a charity or school and would like a us to donate a “4m3 skip bin hire” as a prize, give us a call to discuss the details.
Who wouldn’t want to win a skip bin hire? 🙂
